Structure Equation Model for Sleep Quality of Shift Worker

Abstract
Objectives: The purpose of this structural model is to analyze the main cause of sleep quality of shift worker in small and medium industries in manufacturing, to determine causality among factors and to present strategies on nursing intervention for improving sleep quality.

Methods: The model of the hypothesis is established based on 3P Model of Insomnia and previous studies. A total of 231 subjects are surveyed and data are analyzed using SPSS/WIN 24.0 program and AMOS 22.0 program.

Results: The verification result of the fitness of the hypothetical model shows that it meets recommended levels showing ¥ö2=119.95(p<.001), ¥ö2/df=1.57, GFI=0.93, TLI=0.96, NFI=0.93, CFI=0.97, RMR=0.005, SRMR=0.06, RMSEA=0.05 and the main factor of shift worker's sleep quality is sleep hygiene as Direct Effects and Total Effects, followed by Circadian Type and Job Stress giving an approximate 57.9-percent confidence level.

Conclusion: The development of a intervention program that can improve the sleep quality of Small- Medium Scaled Manufacturing Industry Shift Worker is needed using factors verified in this study.
